Short Bio: Ulla Hehenberger

Ulla Hehenberger has lived in Westport since 1996. She was fortunate to move into the house next to Arlene Skutch, the beloved founder of the Pink House Painters. After Arlene’s passing she continued painting in Leona Frank’s group. She prefers to paint with oil colors and is now working out of a dedicated art studio, located in a wooded section of her property.

Ulla was born in Sandviken, North of Stockholm, Sweden, and received her College education at Uppsala University and at the Sorbonne in Paris. She earned a degree in French, complemented with studies of Egyptology, Greek and Roman History, and Esthetics. She has traveled
extensively and visited most major art museums in France, Italy, Spain, central and Northern Europe, Chicago, Boston, and New York.

She moved around quite a bit before settling in Westport, having lived in Gainesville, Florida, Stockholm, Paris (altogether 5 years), and San Jose, California.

In addition to her dedication to art, Ulla has also taken classes at Le Cordon Bleu in Paris to work on her gourmet cooking skills. She has further studied and practiced the craft of traditional French upholstery.

Ulla and her husband Michael, a quantum scientist, have three daughters and five grandchildren. Karin, the oldest, went to Karolinska medical school in Stockholm. She started “Lyfebulb” and lives in Westport with her daughter Liv. Lisa lives in Barcelona, Spain, and is a Professor at the ESADE business school. Her daughter Ingrid is attending College, and her son Octavio is a high school student. Anna, the youngest, lives in Charlotte, NC, where she represents the County School District as Deputy General Counsel. Her sons Willie and Freddie are still in pre-school.
